What resources are provided for those who serve as catechists at Mercy?
Those who serve as catechists at Mercy will each receive a copy of the appropriate grade-level catechetical guide. This guide not only provides lesson plans for the sessions, but also provides tips on how to be an effective catechist for children of the particular grade. For catechist who are nervous about issues related to class management and discipline, a professional educator will be on site to provide assistance if needed. The archdiocese strongly recommends that all catechists complete the Hearts Aflame program to become certified catechists and confident teachers of the faith. See the link below for more information.
The archdiocese also requires that catechists complete the requirements for the archdiocesan child protection program. For information please contact Mary Kate Kassman at 301.365.1415.
